What is Frozen shoulder?
A patient came with a pain, stiffness and limited range of motion on her right shoulder for a few months, with no history of significant injury or surgery.
Couldn’t raise her arm higher then her shoulder in front, or on the side of her body. couldn’t touch her low back.
pain bothers her sleep.
bowel movement has always been irregular (once every 1-3 days)
–> the pain is on the path of large intestine and small intestine meridian. Having irregular bowel movement for years shows that these two meridian’s function is always not too good.
Acupuncture on her back and shoulder, to regulate large intestine and small intestine meridian. After remove all the needles help her to move the arm around.
Able to raise her arm to shoulder’s level in front of her body after the treatment.
The angle on the side and back of her body improves a little.
Told her to stretch and maintain the ROM everyday between every treatment.
Pain level became lower then last treatment. She’s been doing stretch everyday, so ROM was kept.
the shoulder pain doesn’t bother her sleep as much.
Similar treatment, because the pain was at the same spot.

Able to keep the ROM. Able to comb both side of her hair.
Patient is reacting pretty good to the treatment, so i decided to push it a little bit so she can heal faster.
Acupuncture on her back and shoulder for local treatment for the pain, and remove the needles right away.
Put a few needles on her hand to reduce the pain, and help regulate meridians. And let her move her arm for 30 minutes with the needles.
Able to raise her arm about 60 degree higher the her shoulder in front of her body, 30 degree higher then her shoulder on the side of her body, a bit higher when she reach back.
Able to keep the ROM. The pain feels more in the muscle (more to the surface) instead in the joint.
